Governor Ned Lamont made the announcement on Thursday, Feb.17, saying the airline also plans to add eight new nonstop destinations at the airport, adding to the four nonstop destinations Breeze currently serves from Bradley International.

The new destinations will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Over the last few years, Bradley has gained a national reputation as one of the best operated and most convenient airports in the country, and airlines are taking note as they increase their service and add more routes from Connecticut’s largest airport,” Lamont said in a statement. “Bradley is a key economic driver for our state, and the more airlines and destinations that we can add from the airport, the more attractive Connecticut becomes to companies that are seeking to grow their own operations."

The establishment of the new base will make it so the airline permanently houses aircraft at Bradley International and hires local pilots, flight attendants and mechanics, officials said.

The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development is supporting the project through a grant in arrears up to $1,262,000.

The grant is contingent on the airline creating and retaining 212 full-time jobs, according to the announcement.
